Health & Safety

While Splendour is a time for fun and the celebration of arts and music, there is also a serious side to any large gathering so we would appreciate it if you could take the time to read the following information.

We wish to remind patrons that photographic ID that corresponds with the name printed on each individual's ticket must be presented at the gates for entry. Please cick here for a complete list of acceptable identification.

POLICE AND SECURITY

The Queensland Police Service (QPS) will be working in conjunction with organisers to ensure your time at the festival is a safe and enjoyable one. The festival is a town in its own right, and the town needs policing. Uniform and Plain Clothes officers will be on duty at all times to assist you while also overseeing that the festival runs smoothly.

The festival works closely with the authorities and would like to advise ticket holders that drug detection dogs will be present around the Woodford area and at Splendour in the Grass across the weekend. Police random breath and saliva testing units will also be active on local roads.

Two separate security firms will be operating on site, one overseeing the entertainment precinct and the other supervising the campground and external site.

With a strong security and police presence at the event, anyone caught trying to fence jump or attempting to enter the venue unlawfully WILL be turned over to the authorities. Fence jumping is trespassing and Splendour has a zero tolerance policy towards anyone trying to enter the festival this way. Those caught will be immediately removed from the site and will be prosecuted. They will also be hit with a fine of up to $2000.

All valuables should be locked and secured in your vehicle or car-boot (if secure) but ensure items are out of sight from the public, or left at home.  Police and security will be making patrols of the camping areas during the festival but we remind you we take no responsibility for lost or stolen goods. As such we strongly urge visitors not to bring valuables or if you do then don’t leave them in plain view.

Event-only patrons are not allowed to enter the campground. There will be random wristband checks throughout the campground. Any event-only patrons found in that area risk being evicted from the festival.

FIRST AID AND HEALTH

To assist with patron safety, the festival organisers have again provided a comprehensive health service which will include on-site doctors, paramedics and chillout areas. In addition, a breathalyser service will again be on site to allow drivers who are unsure if they are over the limit to get an indication of their blood alcohol content. The Main Medical Centre is located behind the General Store. Aid Stations are also located near the main stages.

Footwear is required. Bare feet and thongs waste too much of our first aid team’s time. You will need to wear proper shoes/boots.

Please remember to drink lots of water throughout the day. Sealed plastic (no glass) bottles of water or soft drink can be brought into the entertainment precinct. We will also allow totally empty drink bottles (no glass). You can get refills from water taps on site or in the bars.

Under Queensland tobacco laws, smokers must use designated Outdoor Smoking Areas. For the consideration of others, and to help prevent butt litter, please use the Outdoor Smoking Areas that will be set up on site.

RESPONSIBLE SERVICE OF ALCOHOL

Splendour in the Grass aims to provide an enjoyable, safe event for all customers and staff.

The responsible service of alcohol plays an integral part in this philosophy and as a result we must ensure patrons do not become unduly intoxicated and present a problem for others. This also means that liquor will not be supplied to disorderly patrons or to anyone who is under 18 years of age.

Some rules relating to Splendour this year...

  • The Splendour entertainment precinct is a licensed area and as such you will be required to show ID to purchase alcohol. Splendour will only accept the following forms of ID:
    • Australian Drivers License
    • Passport
    • Government Issued Proof of Age Card
    • Victorian Keypass
    • International Drivers License (must contain a photograph)
  • If you cannot produce ID you will be treated as a minor and excluded from all bar service and bar areas.
  • NO alcohol can be bought onto the licensed premises and on the spot fines apply if caught ($500).
  • Further to this the camping grounds surrounding the festival are alcohol free zones. All patrons are subject to vehicle and bag searches – any alcohol will be confiscated and NOT returned.
  • The event precinct is licensed and along with our bars there is a large variety of food and non-alcoholic beverage options also widely available across the festival site.

Minors – as per Splendour’s Youth Policy – must be accompanied by a responsible adult at least 25 years of age.

Please note that alcohol will not be able to be brought onto or consumed on shuttle buses or trains travelling to or from the festival.

ILLEGAL CAMPING

Camping or sleeping in vehicles is not allowed anywhere but within the Woodfordia campground and other recognised campsites in the Moreton Bay Regional Council area. Council Rangers will be making regular inspections of the area surrounding Woodfordia.

NO FIRES

Fires are NOT permitted. This includes fire twirling. Anyone lighting a fire will be ejected from the festival. There will be supervised communal bonfires at a few locations throughout the campgrounds & event area.

ROAD SAFETY

The D’Aguilar Highway is a ‘black spot’ road with a number of high accident zones. Please drive carefully. Also please observe the reduced speed limits that will apply on roads surrounding the festival site and the town of Woodford as part of the festival’s Traffic Management Plan that has been put in place in consultation with relevant authorities.

If you’re driving a long distance, take regular breaks and don’t drive if you’re tired or intoxicated. Organise a designated driver instead or use the shuttle bus services provided.

Police radar patrols will be stationed on local roads and police will also be conducting roadside breath-testing and drug-testing at various locations leading to and from the Woodfordia site.

Do not enter or leave the Woodfordia site on foot.

The Queensland Transport Info Line 131 940 will have updated traffic reports dedicated to the festival area, and will carry similar information on their web site. The festival has also teed up triple j radio to keep you updated with the latest traffic info should any congestion occur.
