TRAVELLING BY CAR
In order to minimize the number of private vehicles travelling to and from the festival, we need to encourage car-pooling as much as possible. As one of the ways to encourage ride-sharing, we will be requiring all vehicles entering the site to carry a pre-purchased Vehicle Entry Pass.
The number of vehicle passes available each day will be capped. This will serve to limit the number of vehicles entering the site each day which will reduce the potential for traffic to clog local roads and site entries.
There will be different Vehicle Entry Passes for the campground and for the venue carpark. These passes will be on sale from Moshtix on June 12, 2013. Prices to be advised.
Campers driving to the site will need to pre-purchase a Campground Vehicle Entry Pass. Those wanting to use the carpark will require a Day Parking Pass. Day Parking Passes will be available for each day as well as a weekend pass (Fri, Sat, Sun).
Those who intend camping with us have the choice of a vehicle pass for Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday. If you want to arrive on a particular day, you’ll need to get onto Moshtix.com.au and secure a pass when they go on sale on June 12.
Day parkers can choose between Friday, Saturday or Sunday, or a season pass covering all 3 days. Please note the carpark is NOT open on Wednesday or Thursday.
REFUNDS AVAILABLE
The good news is that if you do car-pool you can get your money back on your pass. Event and Camping ticketholders can get their Campground Vehicle Entry Pass fee refunded if they arrive with 3 or more people in their car. Day parkers can get a refund (based on a daily parking fee) if their vehicle contains 4 or more occupants

RIDE-SHARING
Splendour has joined with ride-share website www.jayride.com.au so those with spare seats can connect with those looking for a lift, helping to save money and emissions.
For those in the Northern Rivers region, make sure you head to http://www.nrcarpool.org - a carpooling initiative hosted by Byron Shire Council alongside our neighbouring Councils.
PARKING
Parking info can be found here.
SAFETY
Please note THERE IS NO PEDESTRIAN ACCESS to North Byron Parklands. In other words, you will not be able to walk there from nearby locations.
When driving long distances, remember to avoid fatigue by taking regular breaks or sharing the driving. It’s also worth noting that the Taree to Queensland border stretch of the Pacific Highway is recognized as a high accident area. Please take it easy.
Before setting out, it's worth checking road conditions and potential roadwork delays. In NSW, call Roads and Maritime Service on 132 701 or go to http://livetraffic.rta.nsw.gov.au/; for QLD call 13 19 40 or visit http://131940.qld.gov.au/Home.aspx
TAXIS
Byron Bay Taxis (Ph 02-6685 5008) will have vehicles servicing the site. These taxis cover the Byron Bay, Brunswick Heads and Mullumbimby areas. The taxi rank will be situated near the bus loop close to the entrance to the entertainment precinct.
Tweed Taxis will also be on site. Their vehicles will service areas north of North Byron Parklands http://tweedtaxis.com.au/ or phone 1300 656 818
BIKES
Those of you riding pushbikes to the festival can leave them at the bike “corral” off the main pedestrian entry. Do not just leave bikes up against fences or in pedestrian walkways, they will be removed.
When riding please take care on local roads and inside the venue watch out for pedestrians. Don’t ride your bike if you are over the limit.
Motorbikes can park in the carpark for free. They do not require a vehicle pass.
TRAVELLING BY PLANE
Ballina Byron Gateway Airport is the closest to Byron Bay, about 25 minutes, and is about 40 minutes south of the venue. Ballina Airport is a proud Sponsor of Splendour in the Grass. Coolangatta Airport is about 30 minutes drive north of the venue, and Brisbane Airport, about 1.75 hours north by road, is also an option. Virgin Australia, Qantas, Jetstar or Qantaslink fly into Coolangatta, Ballina and Brisbane, while Virgin Australia, Jetstar and Rex flies into Ballina.

As Byron Bay is a major tourist centre, there are numerous airport shuttles operating from Gold Coast Airport, Ballina-Byron Airport and Brisbane Airport, some of whom have good online booking services. We recommend booking in advance as these services are very popular. See AIRPORT SHUTTLES above on this same page.
TRAVELLING BY TRAIN
Byron Bay no longer has a local train service. You can purchase a train ticket to Byron Bay but the train trip only takes you to Casino (from Sydney) or Grafton (from Brisbane). From there the remainder of your trip is by bus. These services drop off and collect from the Transit Centre in the centre of Byron Bay township. Phone Countrylink for information and timetables: 13 22 32 or www.countrylink.nsw.gov.au
STEER PROJECT
The STEER Project is a local initiative providing Support, Teamwork, Education, Experience and Rewards reducing the risk of youth having a car crash by 50% and encouraging them to make safe transport choices.
