As well as downloading the above 'How To Reissue Splendour Tickets' guide, it is important that you also read the following, especially the section entitled "ANOMALIES".
July 08 2011
The reissue function is now active and will operate up until 5pm on Tuesday 26th July 2011.
Since 2006 our tickets have been strictly non-transferable as they carried an individual's name and date of birth which could not be changed by the ticketholder. This anti-scalping measure was introduced after numerous complaints and media criticism in previous years about the scalping of Splendour tickets. Further refinements were made to the system and since 2008 the only legitimate way for ticketholders to offload unwanted tickets was via the Resale Facility, where the seller received a refund only when their ticket was purchased by another person. Ticketholders could not nominate who would receive their ticket and could not change the name and date of birth details themselves.
However, in response to the issue of tickets in the resale facility not being snapped up as quickly this year as they have in the past, we have opened up a reissue option to give ticketholders more flexibility in finding someone else who can use their ticket. The reissue option will run in addition to the existing resale facility and ticketholders no longer able to attend this year's festival now have the choice of putting their ticket up for resale or changing the name and date of birth details on their ticket via their Moshtix account.
THE PROCESS
Those ticketholders wanting to reissue their ticket to another person will need to log into their Moshfile on www.moshtix.com.au and click 'View All Bookings', select the ticket/s you want to reissue, and then click 'Reissue', after which you'll need to fill in the name and date of birth details of the new ticketholder, provide your credit card details, click 'Reissue' again and the ticket is then sent to the email address used for the original ticket purchase.
THE ANOMALIES
As the existing resale facility does not allow reissues, we looked into ways to build the reissue system into it. However, we realised that to do this and test it properly was going to take too long when it was essential to introduce the reissue function asap. Instead, we came up with an alternative arrangement that was ready to go in a shorter timeframe but as a result there are a few aspects that we need to explain:
1. The reason you need to provide your credit card details (or an alternate credit card) again is that you will be charged a $20 reissue fee. Those with tickets already in the resale will recall that at the time of putting their ticket back on the market they paid a $20 resale fee plus the amount of their original booking fee. Unfortunately one casualty of getting the reissues up and running is that there is no automatic resale fee refund function in place. Rest easy though, your resale fee and the original booking fee WILL be refunded, but this is where you need to do a bit of legwork, as you need to email ticketsupport@moshtix.com.au to request your refund of the resale fee and booking fees. Please also provide your Ticket ID or Order Number, as well as specifying the name on the original ticket. Refunds will then be done manually by Moshtix. Such refunds will be done in batches on a regular basis but please note this refund may not appear in your account for a few working days.
2. Don't freak when you see the Tax Invoice / Confirmation PDF that will be sent to you after the reissue has been completed – it will carry the full purchase price of the relevant ticket you have had reissued, but you will only have been charged the $20 reissue fee for the service.
THE CLARIFICATIONS
- The reissue system means ticketholders can opt to give away or on-sell their ticket to another person. It does not mean that Moshtix or Splendour are reimbursing or refunding them the original price or part thereof of their ticket.
- The resale system was NEVER a straight refund arrangement. The person whose ticket is up for resale only gets their money back (less fees) when another person buys their ticket. If that ticket is not purchased by another person, it remains the valid property of the original purchaser.
- Splendour In the Grass does not provide refunds for any tickets left unsold at 5pm on Tuesday 26th July, 2011, when the resale ends.
- The reissue option will close at the same time as the resale facility – 5pm on Tuesday 26th July, 2011.
CHANGED YOUR MIND ABOUT NOT GOING?
We've had numerous inquiries from people who have put their ticket in the resale but have now changed their mind and want to use it. To remove your ticket from the resale, please email your request to ticketsupport@moshtix.com.au along with the Ticket ID or order number and the name on the ticket.
We’d love to see you there if you can make it.
July 06 2011
In response to the issue of tickets in the resale facility not being snapped up as quickly as they have in the past, we have been looking into the option of incorporating a reissue function into our existing resale facility. While it may seem a simple change on the surface, opening up a reissue system is a little more complicated than just announcing that ticketholders can now transfer their ticket into another person's name.
While we understand your frustration, please be aware that the event has always sold out before and the existing system is custom-designed for a sold-out event and does not presently allow reissues.
Please bear with us while we look into this alternative option to allow you to offload your ticket.
