The Splendour campgrounds at North Byron Parklands open from 10am Wednesday 17 July, not earlier. PLEASE DO NOT ARRIVE BEFORE THIS TIME. On Wednesday, campers can arrive between 10am – 10pm and between 7am – 10pm on Thursday 18 July and Friday 19 July. If you’re arriving on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 July 2019 you can check in from 8am – 8pm.
Splendour 2019 will take place Friday 19, Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 July at our forever home – North Byron Parklands.
You can arrive after 10am on Wednesday 17 July. However please do not arrive any earlier as we will not have staff available to admit you to the campgrounds. On Wednesday, campers can arrive between 10am – 10pm and between 7am – 10pm on Thursday 18 July and Friday 19 July. If you’re arriving on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 July, 2019 you can check in from 8am – 8pm. Please stick to these times
Yes. A Camping Ticket is separate to an Event Ticket. You need to purchase both if you plan to camp onsite.
Each Camping Ticket is per person. That means each individual staying at your campsite will need to purchase a Camping Ticket.
The Meadow is our family friendly campground, tucked away from the rest of the campers so you have some privacy when you’re trying to put your kids to sleep. The Meadow features some handy extras like play equipment to keep them busy, a microwave, change table and more.
Sometimes at festivals, things get left behind. And that’s just not good enough. Since there’s currently only one planet Earth on offer, we want every single camper at Splendour to leave no trace. Zero footprint. Zilch. Recycling facilities will be available throughout the venue in the entertainment area and campgrounds. Please recycle where possible.
In addition, are the important points below.
Sorry but you won’t be able to choose your own camping spot. When you arrive at the campgrounds our friendly Camping Marshals will show you where to set up camp. Please remember that space is tight in the campgrounds so please don’t bring the kitchen sink.
None of the Splendour campsites are powered. You can bring your own generator, BUT we have a strict noise curfew between 12am and 8am in the campgrounds and your generator MUST be turned off between these hours. Liquid fuels are permitted but must be stored with Splendour staff while not in use and you are not permitted to bring gas bottles.
If you want to camp with your pals you must arrive at the same time. Campsites will be allocated by Splendour staff. You cannot save or ‘bags’ campsite space for friends arriving later. To camp together you must arrive together, so plan to arrive as a group. Friends that stick together, camp together!
Sorry, but this one is non-negotiable. Every year loads of people hassle us about being “just one more person”. But the reality is the campground has a set capacity that we legally need to stick to, so once camping tickets sell out we simply cannot put anyone else in there.
As well as onsite Camping Marshals, there will also be security personnel near the camping areas. The marshals’ campsite for each area is clearly marked with large signs. All queries and concerns should be directed to your marshals. Despite the best efforts of our staff and security personnel, there are still people who steal other’s belongings. Our advice – don’t bring valuables at all.
NO! NO! NO!…… and just for extra clarity NO!
Alcohol in the campgrounds is strictly prohibited. IF you ignite fireworks or flares you will be removed from the site and may be the subject of police action.
When you’re packing, remember this – what comes in, must leave with you!
Ditch the elaborate set ups and keep it simple.
Pack a reusable water bottle and fill it at one of our water re-fill stations.
Pack a reusable coffee cup to use for that morning kick starter.
Pack a tote bag to go shopping in our General Store and our many market stalls.
And pack a forever tent. At Splendour we believe a tent is for life, not just for a festival. It’ll keep you warmer, hold up better in the elements and give you a tent load of happy #SITG memories! If you try to save money by buying cheap, you’ll end up paying for it in the long run because you’ll be replacing your gear so often. Buy a keeper and kindly take it home with you when you leave.
NO. Once parked, your vehicle CANNOT be moved again until you depart the festival.
The campgrounds are located in close proximity to the festival entertainment precinct. Please use the festival shuttle buses if you wish to leave the festival site. Festival shuttle buses will run between the festival site and surrounding locations including Ocean Shores, Brunswick Heads and Byron Bay from Wednesday. Fares apply.
During the festival, our General Store is available onsite for basic supplies. Food stalls will be operating in the campgrounds from Wednesday and will operate through until Monday afternoon.
Toilets and warm showers will be located throughout the campgrounds. Please be kind to the environment when using our award-winning facilities as there is no permanent water supply to the site. This means all water has to be purchased and transported on and off site. North Byron Parklands has some of the finest, environmentally friendly compostable toilets and low-flow gas fired showers that have been purpose built just for you!
No. Patrons are not permitted to have campfires or fires of any kind at Parklands campgrounds. If you light a fire you will be removed from the site and may be the subject of police action. Which would be a huge bummer. So, rug up instead.
Butane gas cylinders are NOT permitted at Splendour in the Grass. Only gas bottles that are professionally installed in purpose-built RVs and Caravans are permitted.
Anyone in the campgrounds that is 17 years of age or under MUST be accompanied by parent or guardian that we strongly recommend is 25 years of age or older.
We’ve worked hard over the last few years to make sure everyone has a soft landing at North Byron Parklands, and this particularly includes our camping buddies who chose to come by bus, private shuttle, taxi, Uber or pushbike. We have a dedicated ‘On Foot’ Camping area for those without cars; right near the Bus Stop, close to the festival entrance and surrounded by like-minded foot soldiers who have reduced their impact on the world by not bringing a car.
Put simply, NO. In the Splendour campgrounds, vehicles are parked in a way that makes leaving on the Sunday very difficult. Vehicles are parked tightly end-to-end and your departure is dependent on the vehicle ahead of you leaving first, which happens after the festival on the Monday morning. If you need to leave on Sunday night and are camping, your only option is to camp WITHOUT a vehicle in the campgrounds and leave with your gear on foot. If you are camping on Sunday but plan to leave early, please consider this BEFORE purchasing a Vehicle Pass for the campgrounds.
There is loads of info online for varying types of accommodation in the Byron area, but our Other Campgrounds page is a good starting point. Apart from Byron Bay’s own campgrounds, there are also great campgrounds in the area. You can also check out our Accommodation page for links to websites offering other accommodation options.
Sorry, no. For security reasons, only those with Camping tickets or Camping wristbands are allowed in the campground. Anyone found in the campgrounds without the correct wristband will have their event wristband confiscated and will be ejected from the festival.
Items that are banned in the campground and car park:
Yes. BUT please read carefully before you go down this road as there are some important things you need to know before committing. Caravans, trailers, campers and vans are welcome at Splendour but this is a festival campground, not a tourist park. None of Splendour’s campsites are powered. Repeat – not powered. There is no access to water for your rig and there are no BBQ facilities within the campground. Fires are not permitted at Splendour so you won’t be toasting marshmallows. Importantly, there are no dump points for liquid waste so you will be required to take your load with you at the end. Butane gas cylinders are NOT permitted at Splendour in the Grass. Only gas bottles that are professionally installed in purpose-built RVs and caravans are permitted.
Remember if you’re planning to camp, either in a rig or under canvas, you must purchase a Camping Ticket for each person you’re camping with as well as an Event Ticket.
North Byron Parklands is a mainly flat site however there is a natural amphitheatre, with grassy fields and a few gravel roads. There are walkways to provide access into the amphitheatre. But like any outdoor field, it can become muddy after continuous rainfall so prepare accordingly.
We do have parking set aside for eligible patrons close to the site entrance, but please get in touch with us (via the Contact Us page) beforehand. You will need to pre-purchase the appropriate vehicle pass to access the car parks at North Byron Parklands. Stand tuned for info on Vehicle Passes.
Yes, there are accessible showers and accessible toilets in a dedicated area of the campgrounds. Once you have secured your event and camping tickets, please contact us via the Contact Us page for further information.
Yes. We have dedicated accessible viewing platforms in the amphitheatre and big top tents. For comfort and space, only one additional person can accompany each eligible person.
Holders of a National or State issued Companion card may request a companion ticket equivalent to the ticket type held by the Companion Card holder. Upon approval of request, Splendour in the Grass will issue companions a complimentary ticket to the event to accompany a person with disability.
To request a Companion Card ticket, please email email@example.com including the following details:
The complimentary Companion Ticket will be issued via email direct to the carer from 1 July, 2019.
Service Animals and other animals that aid patrons with disabilities are allowed at this event. If you have any enquiries regarding access for people with a disability and facilities at the festival, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
Each year we’re overwhelmed with the growing interest in the festival and the reaction to the lineup. The event sells out quickly because there are more people purchasing tickets than the event is legally able to offer.
Like any venue, Parklands (Splendour’s forever home) has to follow the rules and needs to comply with its licence to operate.
There are so many reasons why this isn’t possible. Firstly, the approval under which Parklands operates does not permit this to happen. But even if it did, it would be very difficult to have international artists stay for two weekends in one part of Australia. Tours to Australia are scheduled around festivals in Japan and summer festivals in the USA, UK and Europe. These tours take place in a pretty tight schedule and artists move on to the next country quickly – global competition is fierce.
The ‘Locals’ ticket sale has been in place for many years now. This is a way of giving back to the community that hosts us. Splendour is born and bred in Byron and we believe it’s really important to look after the local people and community that has supported us from the very beginning. Rest assured, the quantity of tickets sold at the locals’ sale leaves plenty of tickets left for those outside the area.
We’re happy you asked! There are 4 types of vehicle passes available depending on your needs – the Camp WITH Vehicle Pass, the Camp WITHOUT Vehicle Pass, the Big Rig Pass and the Day Parking Pass. All Vehicle Passes must be pre purchased. You can do this from now via Moshtix.

This is the Vehicle Pass for those with Camping Tickets who wish to camp WITHOUT their vehicle. If you purchase a Camp Without Vehicle Pass, you will be able to camp in a tent only area NOT with your vehicle. Your car will be parked in a dedicated parking area, located close by to the Tent Only campgrounds. The upside is you’ll have more flexibility with your departure time on Monday morning after the festival has ended, AND you’ll be closer to the festival entrance. This is a Vehicle Pass for day trippers only – those with valid Splendour 2019 Event Only Tickets, who are not camping, and wish to park at the North Byron Parklands day car park. This is NOT a vehicle pass for those with Camping Tickets. You will need a Day Parking Pass per vehicle for each day you intend to park in the North Byron Parklands Day Car Park. The Day Car Park will be open 10am – 2am on Friday 19, Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 July. The Day Car Park will NOT be open on Wednesday 17 or Thursday 18 July. (Day Car Park open Fri, Sat & Sun only). You will be eligible for a $30 redemption voucher with 4 or more peeps in the vehicle when the vehicle pass is scanned ON ARRIVAL. (All vehicle occupants must hold valid 2019 Event Tickets).
Calling occupants! Two is company, three’s a crowd and four is a party, so make sure you fill your car with friends and carpool to #SITG2019. The good news is that if you carpool you will be rewarded. Day parkers can get a redemption voucher to the value of $30 if their vehicle contains 4 or more occupants holding valid 2019 Event tickets or wristbands for the day that the Vehicle Pass is valid. You’ll save dollars, help the environment and have a helluva-time.
No, you don’t Easy Rider. As motorbikes are deemed to be low-emission vehicles, you won’t require a Vehicle Pass for a motorcycle.

Not really. Each year we do have arrangements in place with select tertiary institutions to utilise some students in relevant positions, e.g. environment science students as Eco Cops, but beyond that the best work experience available is in volunteer shifts such as wrist banding, camper registration, on-site traffic control etc.
Sorry, no. We don’t use volunteers in those roles 🙂

Leave no tent behind! Okay, it sounds super obvious but we need our audience, you, to do the obvious things to keep our beautiful Parklands home in sparkling condition. Each year, some people make the unfathomable choice to leave their tents and other rubbish behind. This makes us really sad as it’s wasteful and creates extra, unnecessary toil for our over-worked clean-up crew. Don’t litter, use the garbage sorting stations correctly, bring re-fillable water bottles and keep cups and please, please, please don’t leave your tents, gumboots, ponchos, couches or anything you’ve bought into Splendour behind when it’s over. Apart from the fact that it’s a bad look, it takes an army of cleaners to pick up and sort through these oversized items. You have a choice. Leave zero trace at your campsite and watch your neighbours follow suit. Spread the environmental good vibes and lead by example.
Yep, it sure is. But anyone aged 15 and under MUST be accompanied by a responsible parent and / or adult guardian holding a valid Event ticket when entering the festival and at all times whilst at Splendour. Event Ticket holders aged 15 years and under not accompanied by a responsible parent and/or adult guardian holding a valid Event ticket will be denied entry into the Event or removed from the Venue.
More information can be found here: Youth Policy.

Camping Ticket holders aged 17 and under MUST be accompanied by a responsible parent and/or adult guardian holding a valid Camping Ticket when entering the Venue Campgrounds and at all times whilst in the Venue Campgrounds. We strongly recommend this parent and/or adult guardian is aged 25 years or older. Any Camping Ticket holders aged 17 years and under that are not accompanied by a responsible parent and / or adult guardian holding a valid Camping Ticket will be denied entry into the Campgrounds or removed from the Venue.

They must be accompanied by a responsible parent, carer and / or adult guardian holding a valid Event ticket when entering the Event and at ALL times whilst at the Event. The Splendour Community Grant is a program that gives worthy community groups and organisations in Byron Bay a financial leg up.
The aim of the Grant is to nurture local charities, community groups and initiatives that touch the lives of people across the Northern Rivers. $1 on every festival ticket, matched by the events themselves, has already raised more $630,000 towards a whole range of environmental and educational institutions within the Byron region.
If you know of or are a part of an organisation within the Byron Shire that is making a difference within your community and in need of a monetary boost, we would love to hear from you!

The Official Ticket Resale Facility is the ONLY way to secure a legit Event and / or Camping Ticket to Splendour 2019. Tickets cannot be obtained through any other means such as unauthorised ticket sellers (i.e. Viagogo), Facebook, Gumtree, or by direct transfer from another individual (no matter what they tell you).
There are no refunds on tickets except as required by law & / or specified by the Live Performance Australia Ticketing Code of Practice. Incorrect purchases DO NOT qualify for a refund or exchange. If your plans change and you can’t make it, be sure to use the Official Ticket Resale Facility to offer your unwanted tickets.
NO! Any posts on our Facebook about buying and selling tickets will be removed. Names and date of birth details on tickets cannot be changed anyway. Leave Facebook and other social media platforms out of the equation when buying or re-selling Splendour tix and go through the Official Ticket Resale Facility which is open now via MOSHTIX.COM.AU.
We get it. Sometimes plans change. Ticket holders who can no longer attend Splendour can use the Official Ticket Resale Facility to offer their unwanted tickets to a willing purchaser. If you need to SELL your Event and / or Camping Tickets you can do so through the Ticket Resale Facility via MOSHTIX, giving you the opportunity to get your money back (minus $30 resale administration fee per ticket & minus original booking & transaction fees). For all Seller FAQ’s please read here.
If you’re a seller, the ticket resale facility to put your ticket up for sale closes at midnight AEST Sunday 30 June, 2019. If you’re a buyer, the ticket resale facility to purchase tickets closes at midnight (AEST) Wednesday 17 July, so keep checking back in until that date to see if your preferred ticket becomes available.
Those wanting to BUY a ticket have the opportunity to do so, subject to availability, via the Official Ticket Resale Facility which is open now via MOSHTIX.COM.AU. Tickets offered for resale will be made available at the regular ticket price + standard booking fees and cc charges. We can’t predict how many tickets will be returned, or when tickets may be available during the resale period, so keep checking in with MOSHTIX.COM.AU. The purchaser can buy tickets for up to 4 people in your preferred selection of Event Tickets, Camping Tickets and Green Offset options, depending upon what is available. You will also require the email address and mobile contact details for each ticket holder so be sure to have these details at the ready when purchasing tickets. For all Buyer FAQ’s please read here.
