MAKE YOUR SPLENDOUR HOME ZERO FOOTPRINT IN 5 EASY STEPS

We want to keep our beautiful Ngarindjin / North Byron Parklands home clean and pristine. But we can’t do it without you. Please help us keep the campgrounds spotless while you’re here. Follow these simple steps and encourage your fellow campers to get on board.

1. GET READY TO SORT YOUR WASTE
When you arrive, a Camp Marshal will hand you a Waste Pack (one per vehicle) and explain how the system works. Please use the garbage bags provided.
CLEAR BAGS = RECYCLING – Clean paper, bottles, aluminium cans, cardboard & empty plastic bottles (but not the lids please).
GREEN BAGS = COMPOSTABLES – All your food scraps. These will be handed out once you’ve set up camp.
BLACK BAGS = GENERAL WASTE – Chip packets, lolly wrappers, foil & plastic bottle lids.
WIN TICKETS TO #SITG2024
Once full, deliver all your CLEAN Recycling (clear) & Compostable (green) bags to our Green Team partners B-Alternative and Mullum Cares Waste Huts, opposite the General Store (corner Road B & 1st Ave) and go into the draw to WIN TICKETS to #SITG2024, MERCH PACKS, and other cool prizes as a reward for you partying with the planet. For your full black garbage bags, take them to the nearest dump point on the side of the campground roads. If you need new bags, find your closest Camp Marshal or one of the roaming Green Team who will be happy to top you up.
Still not sure what goes where? Please ask your Camp Marshal or the Green Team.

2. GET TO KNOW YOUR BINS
Single and colour coded WASTE COLLECTION STATIONS are conveniently located around the #SITG2023 grounds. Make sure you use them correctly!
YELLOW BINS = RECYCLING – Clean paper, aluminium cans, empty plastic bottles (but not the lids please) and tetra drink cartons.
MAROON BINS = COMPOSTABLES – Food scraps, labelled compostable and biodegradable plates and cups, napkins, chopsticks, coffee grounds, and tea bags.
RED BINS = GENERAL WASTE – Nappies, chip and lolly packets etc.

3. REUSE AND REFILL
Don’t forget to #BYOBOTTLE and fill up at one of our water refill stations.
Our bars are proudly pouring into TURN reusable cups! Fresh cups have a $4.00 sustainability fee or bring your used cup back to the bar for a FREE cup swap with your next drink order. Don’t forget to scan the QR code when returning your cup to go into the draw for some epic prizes.

4. MANAGE YOUR TENTS. IT'S NOT SO IN-TENTS
A tent is for life, not just for a festival. You brought it in, now please kindly take it with you. Make it a #keeper.
If any of your camping gear needs repairs, take it to the Mullum Cares Conscious Camping Depot, located next to B-Alternative, where they’ll sew, stitch, and patch up any of your issues, but IF YOU’RE NOT READY TO COMMIT… our friends from Social Features and the Mullum Library of Stuff (MLS) are here to help! If your gear is clean and works, just pack it down and leave with your Camp Marshal. Same goes for sleeping bags, chairs, and blow-up mattresses. All donated gear will be given directly to those in need, or to MLS to be available for use by the local community. Good Karma all round.
KEEP IT CLEAN TO SCORE. Reckon you’ve done your bit? Enter the Cleanest Camper Competition for a chance to win VIP tickets to Splendour 2024*. Plus, our Marshals & Green Team will be handing out ‘On the Spot’ prizes for the cleanest campsites.
*Up to a maximum of 4 tickets.

5. LOOK OUT FOR THE RESOURCE RECOVERY UTE AND TRAILER
Twice a day (11am and 3pm) the Green Team will be moving through the campground to assist campers with the collection of clean mixed recycling, drink containers for our Container Deposit Scheme, gear needing repair, and any donations of camping goods.
Look out for the Green Team Ute, led by a couple of drummers, as they pass your campsite.
