Moonbase is the man pushing Australian bass music to new heights. Dark, grimy and custom made for darkly-lit dancefloors, the Moonbase brand of bass rolls together influences from grime, hip-hop, juke and beats.
And the right people are paying attention: Moonbase’s 2015 collaboration with New York MC Cakes Da Killa was named ‘Best New Music’ by Pitchfork, while Skrillex’s tastemaking Nest HQ blog stepped up to premiere both his recent ‘Orthodox’ EP and last year’s single ‘Southpaw’. Locally, Moonbase has aced primetime sets at many a festival, and committed to pushing music that innovates with the launch of his own label Trench Records.
The most recent single from Moonbase is ‘It Don’t Matter’ featuring Anderson Paak. The track has since been co-signed by Zane Lowe, Pitchfork, Beats 1 Radio, BBC and triple J and is coming to a dancefloor near you at SITG!
