The Balance

New music for your Friday from Catfish and the Bottlemen.

The Balance – the latest release from Catfish and the Bottlemen.

Fans of Catfish and the Bottlemen are cheering the release of the band’s third studio album which dropped today via Island Records/Caroline Australia.

Over the last five years, Catfish and the Bottlemen have risen to become one of the finest indie-rock bands on the scene. Proving themselves with a Top 10 certified-platinum debut album and a win at the 2016 Brit Awards for British Breakthrough Act.

The four-piece; Van McCann (Lead Vocals), Benji Blakeway (Bass Guitar), Bob Hall (Drums) and Johnny Bond (Guitar), are no strangers to a festival crowd. This summer gone has seen them command the headline slots across major festivals in the UK, Europe and the United States.

Thankfully, it won’t be long until we get to experience the new album live. The Welshmen are bringing their anthemic indie-rock to Splendour as well as a run of side shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. They will also perform ‘Spin Off’ in Adelaide. This isn’t their first Aussie festival rodeo either. Having played 2017’s Splendour in the Grass as well as Falls Festival in 2016 and 2018. With a touring track record like theirs, you can almost assume it won’t be their last.

The boys are very much looking forward to coming down under and playing to the famously boisterous Aussie crowds. Fun fact for those who didn’t know. The band’s distinctive name has Australia to thank. Taking the title directly from a street entertainer that McCann saw as a kid in Sydney, whose makeshift band consisted of a handful of bottles filled with water.

Catfish and the Bottlemen premiered live their first single ‘Longshot’ from the new album on Jimmy Kimmel Live! which you can check it out below.  Since then, we have been treated to three more album teasers, ‘Fluctuate,’ ‘2all,’ and most recently the single ‘Conversation.’

Dive into the magnetic and laddish rock sounds of Catfish. Familiarise yourself with their latest release The Balance before they take to the stage on the Saturday night of the Splendour weekend!
