A.B. ORIGINAL is the collaboration between artist, activist and author Briggs and MC and multi-ARIA Award winning producer Trials. Indigenous artists from Yorta Yorta and Ngarrindjeri country respectively, A.B. ORIGINAL are known for their no-holds-barred, politically, and culturally activated hip hop. Their purpose is to stand, call out and challenge the status quo of Australia, and provide truth-telling through First Nations’ perspectives on history, society, and the Australian national narrative. The group’s debut album, Reclaim Australia, was a multiple award winner in 2017, including winner of triple j album of the year, ARIA awards Best Urban Album of the Year, ARIA Awards Best Independent Release; Australian Music Prize winner 2016, and multiple AIR Awards. The albums critically acclaimed single January 26 was winner of the National Indigenous Music Awards’ 2017 Song of the Year. In 2018 A.B. ORIGINAL were named APRA Songwriter of the Year. A.B. ORIGINAL make their Splendour return on the back on 2022 song King Billy Cokebottle and 2023’s Yes featuring Dr Total Eclipse and Marlon.
