Through the last five years of eclectic releases and impassioned live performances, The Slingers have cemented themselves as one of the most unique bands in the contemporary Australian underground/alternative scene. Their releases range in style from rock and roll to electronic, and from Australiana folk to the country pastiche of Kind Hearts, a collaboration with Melbourne underground legend, Spike Fuck. Since signing to iconic Australian label, Flightless Records, in 2020, the band has created their signature genre ‘Motel Pop’, less defined by production than by its lyrical content, chronicling with a blend of comedy, tragedy and the lives of ordinary people struggling through our current age of loneliness. Their debut LP, Sentimentalism, released in July 2023, peaked at #4 on the ARIA Charts for Top Australian Albums and #5 for Top Vinyl Albums. Off the back of this success, The Slingers completed a sold-out tour of Australia’s East Coast. On the cards for 2024 is the release of a single and their sophomore album, as well as further touring around Australia and the UK/EU. The band make their Splendour in the Grass debut in 2024.
