Refusing to stay within the bounds of Australian indie, Melbourne-based four-piece Teenage Dads create melodies and rhythms that collide at the intersection of disparate worlds: early 2000s NYC indie, ‘80s New Wave and Synth Pop, and the explosiveness, more contemporary influences, including bands like Two Door Cinema Club and Phoenix. Teenage Dads began to gain a reputation for their compelling live performances in late 2019 following several years of self-funded touring. In spite of the stultifying lockdowns of 2020, Jordan Findlay (vocals/multi-instrumentalist), Vincent Kinna (drums), Angus Christie (bass), and Connor McLaughlin (guitar), all friends from their school days, stunned and delighted audiences by using their time to deliver their Chugg Music debut EP, CLUB ECHO, in late 2021, which signalled a rapidly maturing approach to song writing and recording. From their current EP, Midnight Driving, tracks including Teddy and Hey, Diego have been regular fan favourites on triple j. The ensuing fandom has sold out performances at The Metro Theatre, Melbourne’s iconic Corner Hotel, and Brisbane’s The Zoo. Tours of the UK, Europe and the US lead the band further into 2023 before they return home to hit the stage at Splendour.
